At a cool 6.9% this Bermondsey brewed beer, The Kernel, will give you that perfect Friday buzz tonight. I tried chilled and at room temperature and I have to recommend it at room, much nicer. Find out more about the local brewer here: thekernelbrewery.com they list a load of stockists on the site too but I enjoyed this at my super local – Cool Cats Cafe.
Happy 23rd Birthday to one of my oldest friends Amy Crabtree!
I made her some flavoured vodka for her birthday and presented it in a glass decanter. She seemed to love it but I didn’t want to tell her quite how easy it was to do.
I took two lemons and two limes, cut them into slices and pushed them into the decanter. I then added a tablespoon of sugar and poured in the vodka. Making sure it was closed securely I gave it a good shake (100 actually because I wanted to see if I could keep going). Then I just fashioned a label out of an old ribbon, a piece of card and in gold lettering wrote on it “Crabtree’s Citrus Vodka”. Done.
You can get amazing cut glass at charity shops too so it doesn’t need to cost the earth either.
If you are bored of buying the same supermarket bottle or looking for a more wow-worthy gift this Christmas, how about a vintage spirit?
These bottles are sold by The Whiskey Exchange and they have bottles from the eighties right back to the forties!
How perfect would these be if you’re having a Gatsby inspired event? (I know these bottles aren’t from the twenties but use your imagination a little) Or they would make a beautiful show stopper in your liquor collection.
